Proclaim The Word Ministries: PTW Student Success Project!

Brothers and Sisters it is time to do something about the problems in our communities. We, Proclaim THe Word Ministries, can no longer as a church turn a deaf ear to the disparities of Jackson Public Schools and the surrounding school districts. It is the churches responsiblity to provide the good news of Jesus Christ where the bad news is evident. You may be asking, " Well then, what is the bad news?" according to the Misplaced Priorities: Over Incarcerate, Under Educate study done by the NAACP, "65 percent of the lowest performing schools can be found in neighborhoods that also see the highest rates of incarceration." If that is not enough, according to Clarian Ledger in Jackson,MS, "Taxpayers are spending $25 million a year to imprison people from neighborhoods in two zip codes in west and south Jackson...and....In Mississippi, nearly 1 in 2 African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans fails to graduate from public high school with their class." Church, it is time to stop building bigger buildings and to invest in the good news of Jesus Christ ! We must stand up! It is our goal to have a major impact on the dropout rate in Jackson and in turn have a postive impact on the economy, schools, and spirituality of our city!
